Levari Dragon
Small, quick and low to the ground — three eyes in a row, and spines that sharpen at will.
A breed of Dragon
What differs
Levari are small dragons, light and lithe. The breed runs from about the size of a large rabbit up to that of a great dane, and that range holds for every Levari. They age and grow like any dragon, and stop when they stop. Where in the range each one settles is their own.
They are built squat and low to the ground, lizard-like, on four legs splayed a little to the sides. The tail runs about the length of the body or a little longer. Their scales cover them completely, and their colouring varies from one Levari to the next.
The head is long and narrow, almost fox-like in its length, and its jaw is plainly a dragon’s. Their horns typically run short. Their ears are long and fin-like, and very mobile.
The eyes. A Levari has three, set in an even row across the face above the snout. Each is a fully independent eye, opening and closing on its own, and all three see. The central eye often carries a sense of its own as well, beyond ordinary sight.
The spines. Several rows of spines run up and down the back and along the tail. They are part of the body, and their tips retract: drawn in, the spines are blunt, and extended, they are sharp. The tail’s spines make it a weapon for defence or attack.
The wings. They are ordinary dragon wings in their build, set higher on the body than most and further in from the shoulders, close to the spine and near the neck. Seen from the front, the head partly hides them.
Like most dragons, Levari live in the Veil and across many worlds.
Magic
A Levari carries an element like any other dragon, a fundamental affinity following bloodline, channelled primarily through the breath and through the tail for more complex work.
The central eye’s sense is the work of wild magic, and it follows no pattern. What that sense is, and whether a given Levari’s central eye carries one at all, belongs to the individual.
Beyond those two, whatever a Levari is tied to magically is their own.
