A majestic hybrid creature stands poised for action, its form a seamless fusion of wolf, lion, and dragon. Black fur streaked with silver flows into shimmering green and iridescent blue scales, its powerful frame radiating strength. Draconic feet grip the earth, a long spiked tail sways behind, and vast blue wings extend from its back, ready to carry it skyward. Its left hand is a formidable wolf’s paw, the right that of a lion, each clawed and deadly. Swirling, ever-shifting eyes—amber, green, blue, red, and white—gleam with fierce intelligence. A wolf’s muzzle lined with dragon’s teeth gives it a fearsome presence, while lion’s ears and caramel-colored horns curving slightly at the tips complete its regal visage. Strapped across its back, two swords await their call to battle—one glowing with golden light, its circular hilt radiating power, the other a silver blade etched with sun and moon symbols, its ornate grip gleaming in the sun. The creature stands beneath a brilliant sky, the sun casting golden rays over the lush trees behind it and the endless blue ocean stretching beyond the sandy shore. Strength, mystery, and primal majesty intertwine in its presence—guardian of the wilds, ruler of the unseen, and force of untamed legend.

Venutian Dragon

A breed of Dragon

Content note. This entry describes Venutian toxins, including one used during intimate contact and one capable of transforming another creature into a Venutian dragon. The Toxins section is the one to skip.

What differs

Venutians are among the most distinct of the dragon breeds, and they diverge in three ways.

The wings. They sit higher on the body than any other dragon’s, extending from the top of the shoulders and part of the slightly elongated neck, and they carry their own separate bone structure. More unusually, the wings are composed entirely of hard muscle rather than bone. Damage to them is far less effective as a result, and what damage does land heals considerably faster.

The covering. Venutians have no scales. They carry thick fur over a heavy hide instead — slightly rough in texture and, despite that, incredibly soft.

The toxins. Where another dragon carries an element, a Venutian carries a set of three toxins, and can deliver any of them through the bite, the claws, the breath or the tip of the tail.

They have a homeworld of their own, which they reached after dragons spread out from their point of origin.

Toxins

The predatory toxin paralyses in small doses. In larger ones it knocks the target unconscious, or kills.

The transformative toxin is how Venutians originally spread their species when they first came into existence. It transforms a mammal of reasonable size into a Venutian dragon, through a full genetic infection and rewrite. Whether the person it is used on keeps their memories, or any traits of what they were before, depends on the Venutian’s choice and on how skilled they are at it. Most Venutians no longer use it. Consent is not required for it to work, but seeking it is the societal norm.

The sensual toxin produces a pleasant, relaxing feeling in small doses. In larger ones, during intimate activity, it produces something extremely intense and thoroughly pleasant.

Magic

The toxins take the place of the elemental affinity other dragons carry. Beyond them, whatever a Venutian is tied to magically is their own.
