Name
Kor draws on a family of roots clustered around the heart and the core — the innermost part of a thing, what remains when everything outward has been stripped away. Latin cor sits in that family, and so does the sense of “core” in English.
Vann draws on roots tied to oaths, bonds and loyalty that was chosen rather than inherited. The emphasis falls on the choosing: a bond entered into deliberately, by someone who could have declined.
Keeper of the bond is the plainest reading. Both halves point at the same thing from inside and outside — what he is at the centre, and what he has undertaken.
Temperament
Korvann is quiet, and it is not reticence. He listens all the way to the end of what someone is saying, and when he does speak it is short, direct and free of hedging. Small talk is not something he manufactures.
Loyalty is the organising fact about him, and he understands it as something given rather than owed. He picked the people he stands with, and that is exactly why he does not treat it as negotiable. Betrayal is the thing that genuinely angers him — including the kind where somebody abandons themselves.
He does not perform strength and has no interest in demonstrating it. He never raises his voice to make a point, never postures, and would rather nothing happened at all than get an opportunity to act.
Secrets are safe with him to an unusual degree. People tell him things, partly because he does not react much and partly because he has never once passed anything along.
His compassion runs specifically toward people who have been discarded, and it shows up as practical help rather than sympathy — turning up, carrying something, standing nearby for as long as it takes.
Physical description
Korvann is a towering orc, broad-shouldered and powerfully built, possessing the sort of strength that inspires confidence rather than intimidation. His frame is large even by the standards of his kind, carrying obvious physical capability without excess bulk. Every part of him appears built for endurance rather than spectacle. He stands with the steady posture of someone accustomed to bearing weight, responsibility, and hardship without complaint, his presence grounded and unwavering.
His body follows the classic proportions of an orc, with a deep chest, powerful shoulders, and thick forearms that speak of long years spent working, protecting, and persevering. There is nothing hurried about him. Even at rest, he gives the impression of stability, as though storms might break against him without ever managing to move him from his chosen place.
His skin is a rich earth-brown infused with subtle green undertones, the coloration deepening naturally across his shoulders, upper back, and the outer surfaces of his limbs. Faint variations in tone create natural patterns across his skin, like weathered grain in ancient wood or stone shaped by countless seasons. The texture itself is resilient and durable, carrying the quiet evidence of a life lived fully rather than sheltered from hardship.
From his lower jaw rise a pair of moderate tusks that curve gently upward. They are neither exaggerated nor intimidating, fitting naturally into his features and reinforcing the impression of strength held in reserve. They are well cared for and unobtrusive, serving as a reminder of his heritage without dominating his appearance.
Korvann’s eyes are a deep steel-gray, calm and observant. At first glance they can seem stern, but those who spend time with him quickly notice the warmth hidden beneath their reserved exterior. They are the eyes of someone who listens before speaking and judges carefully before acting. When he turns his attention fully toward someone, they often feel seen in a way that is difficult to describe.
His face is strong and broad, marked by the sturdy features common to his people. Yet despite his formidable appearance, there is a quiet gentleness hidden within his expression. Around trusted friends and family, that reserve softens noticeably. The sternness remains, but it becomes protective rather than distant, revealing the loyalty and care that sit at the center of his character.
His hair is thick and dark, worn in several practical braids that fall around his shoulders. Threads of lighter coloration run through portions of the braids like weathered silver woven among darker strands. The style reflects both practicality and tradition, keeping his hair controlled while preserving a sense of identity and continuity.
His hands are large and heavily calloused, shaped by work, training, and countless acts of service. They possess tremendous strength, yet there is a surprising gentleness in the way he uses them. Whether carrying heavy burdens, crafting something useful, or offering comfort to someone in need, his movements remain controlled and deliberate.
When Korvann moves, he does so with quiet purpose. His steps are measured and efficient, never wasted. For someone of his size, he is remarkably silent, capable of crossing a room or standing watch without drawing attention to himself. Yet when action becomes necessary, his strength reveals itself immediately. Every motion becomes direct, powerful, and decisive, carrying the certainty of someone who has already chosen his course.
His emotions rarely announce themselves openly. Instead, they reveal themselves through subtle shifts in posture and presence. A slight straightening of the shoulders, a change in stance, or a quiet repositioning closer to someone under his protection often says more than words could. His smiles are uncommon, but genuine when they appear, carrying warmth that transforms his entire expression. When those he cares about are threatened, his protective instincts become unmistakable. He does not posture or boast; he simply places himself between danger and the people he loves.
The atmosphere surrounding Korvann feels like a campfire watched through the long hours of night. There is warmth, safety, and the quiet certainty that someone remains awake while others rest. His presence carries the strength of promises kept and responsibilities accepted willingly rather than reluctantly.
His scent is that of worn leather and woodsmoke, familiar and grounding. It evokes memories of well-used equipment, shared journeys, and evenings spent among trusted companions. It is not flashy or attention-seeking, but dependable, much like the orc himself.
Korvann is not merely a warrior. He is loyalty made steadfast, the guardian who remains when others leave, and the keeper of bonds freely chosen. He understands that strength means little without integrity and that protection begins long before conflict ever arrives. To those he calls family, he is a wall that does not break, a promise that does not fade, and a presence that can always be trusted to remain.
